One of Bristol Harbour Festival’s most beloved traditions, the Cardboard Boat Race, has been making a splash since 2011. Designed to raise awareness of our city’s wonderful waterways, this feel-good event celebrates imagination, teamwork and the famous ingenuity of Bristolians - all with a good dose of harbour-side humour.
Throughout the year, the event also supports local schools, welcoming children into the harbour on Packet Boats to visit the MV Balmoral and build model sailboats as part of the Young Shipwrights Model Boat Race.
Prizes Up for Grabs:
- Race Winner – First boat back to the pontoon (and still afloat!)
- Team Spirit Award – For a cheerful crew with great energy
- Titanic Award – For the most spectacular sinking
- Innovation Award – For clever design and creative propulsion
- Best Dressed Boat Award – Because great style deserves recognition
If you’re keen to get involved, all hands on deck! Gather your crew, design your cardboard craft and put your paddling and building skills to the test. The more imaginative your vessel, the better - but seaworthiness helps too!
Spaces are limited so don’t miss the boat, fill out the form below and we'll be in touch.
